Month of Thanksgiving

in an effort to revive this blog i'm going to start a little thankful game for the month of november. one person picks a category and everyone lists the top things for which they are thankful in that category. like this:

Top Three EXPERIENCES I Am Thankful For

Katie:
1. mission life
2. going away to college
3. premarital sex. j/k. didn't experience that. swimming with dolphins. j/k. that was lame. this is harder than i thought. i wanted to list something specific but will go with something general instead: being a mother.

first one to add theirs gets to choose the next list. see how that works? please play along or you will be taken off the contributors list!

well, i don't want to be taken off the contribution list, but the things i am thankful for are pretty cliche. i loved that katie put mission life, i might need to hear about that more...i pretty sure that's not in my top 3. so, here we go:
1. sam, lincoln
2. health/working body
3. nature
good story: the first year we were married we had thanksgiving dinner with a bunch of friends. we were supposed to say our top 3 things we're thankful for. mike went first and didn't mention me. i was crushed and bitter about it for days. pretty sweet by me. we always laugh about it and now never say each other in our lists just for old times sake.

sarah, i'm so glad you contributed. i put mission because it is a list of EXPERIENCES you are thankful for. not things. next list may be PEOPLE you are thankful for. or PLACES, GADGETS, or whatever you choose because you were the first responder. does it make sense yet?

oooh, i like this game. Thinking specifically about blessings is something I don't do often enough.
Here are my Top 3 Experiences:

1. Parking Cars- For a couple years I was a valet on nights/weekends. I've got almost as many stories from parking cars as from my mission.
2. Getting my heart broken. Somehow I made it to age 25 before I got my heart broken. It was terrible but it made me a lot more sympathetic toward other people.
3. The Mish. 'nuff said.

P.S. Really? Swimming with dolphins was lame? I totally want to do that. I swam with sharks in Tahiti but they're not so cuddly and stuff.

1. Every time I gave birth. My heart is on fire and the spirit there.
2. Being there when Spencer died. i know this is also THE WORST thing that ever happened in my life but I am very grateful to have been there together with all the Gunn family. The spirit there was very comforting.
3. Venezuela 1993-1996. I regret A LOT about those years but there are still some great readiming experiences I should be grateful for.
Since no one else has chosen a new topic I will choose.... top three funny memories I am thankful for.

oops I meant redeeming not readiming.

angie--i find it funny that you were 25 before you had your heart broken. what does that say about you? a playuh? for sure that you had the upper hand in all of your relationships. was it ty that broke your heart? if so, i was there for you. in your little rented room of the mullet lady's house on the west side. because i had had my heart broken multiple times by then. but i think with me, my heart and pride are kinda interlinked.
danika, let's wait a day or two to give others a chance. then start a new post for us. i'm going to have to think about this one. i'm pretty sure they will involve angie though.

Wow. I go out of town and come back to a post and comments. Beautiful. Good job, katie.

Experiences:

1- Being sealed to Wellz and Asa. Asa looked like an Angel. Our two year anniversary is this month.

2- Living in France w/my family and traveling like mad throughout Europe.

3- Living w/Bill and Evie in Colorado. Bill had MS and was paralyzed from his neck down. Evie was his amazing wife. I was his care-giver. They taught me about true love and keeping a positive attitude.

3-

i am very satisfied with the comments. actually, not completely satisfied. i would love to have a girls trip and hear all about these experiences (and the funny memories soon to be shared) they sound really cool.
erica, lacey, anyone..please add yours to the list even though we are moving on.

oh, and angie, we swam with dolphins in cancun. they were pretty sad looking with floppy dorsal fins that we weren't allowed to touch. we could only let our hands slide along their sides as they swam past.

It wasn't Tye that broke my heart although he did try. He mostly just broke my pride--that's the only way I would marry him. ha ha.
Ya, that dolphin experience sounds sucky. I'm thankful I never had that experience. That should be a subcategory--experiences we're grateful to have NEVER had. here are mine:
1. lame floppy-finned-dolphin-swimming experience.
2. abortion
3. scalped by injuns.

i just keep thinking of bad things that DID happen to me. how about:
1. crashing the car into water with my kids in the car.
2. having three girls in a row.
3. raped.

Katie, I have many bad experiences.....yikes.

I just happened to get into this site tonight. Most of the time it won't pull up so I'm glad I did! I don't want to be banned :(

Here are my top 3 experiences I am thankful for:

1. Growing up with my mom, dad, brothers, & sisters. Now that I've seen other families I think mine is perfect & others are super freaks. I wouldn't want any other.

2. Being able to travel so much throughout my life. I've seen & done a lot! Japan, Hawaii, Mexico, Bahamas, & lots of states in throughout the U.S.

3. Living up here in the sticks for past 5 months. It has totally humbled me & made me remember the more important things in life even though I would like to kill my mother-in-law right this instant. We have been without water now for 3 days & probably won't have any for another week. Dudes, I am roughin it & I dig it.

3 things I wish I didn't experience:

1. Going to a school swim party with a completely see-through suit. All the boys stared so hard.

2. Wasting so many years on partying. I did have fun but it was so not worth it.

3. I was raped too :(
